Parasoft SOAPtest 2.1 Supports WS-I Basic Profile 1.0

Automated Error Prevention product for Web Services operates in conformation with new set of specifications and guidelines for Web Services interoperability

MONROVIA, CA. (August 15, 2003) - Parasoft, leading provider of Automated Error Prevention software solutions announced today the general availability of Parasoft SOAPtest™ 2.1 with support for Basic Profile 1.0, a set of specifications developed by the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) that establishes a baseline for interoperable Web services.

"Parasoft has been actively involved in the development of Basic Profile 1.0 and we strongly believe that having a standard set of guidelines will positively effect the industry’s ability to build Web Services that interoperate properly," said Gary Brunell, Parasoft vice president of professional services. "Not only is development of SOAPtest influenced by WS-I, but we have also been working as part of a small subset of companies within the organization on the development of the WS-I testing tools."

SOAPtest now operates in conformation with Basic Profile 1.0 as it tests both Web services clients and servers.

"SOAPtest provides almost all the features found on the wish lists of programmers and QA professionals," said Prasad Joshi in his review of SOAPtest for Web Services Journal ."I recommend this product to software developers and QA professionals who want to more easily and efficiently verify the functionality and scalability of their Web services throughout the development life cycle."

About SOAPtest
Parasoft SOAPtest™ is an Automated Error Prevention product for Web services and enterprise applications built with SOAP. SOAPtest automatically performs server functional testing, load testing, and client testing with just the click of a button. It automatically creates test suites from WSDL documents to test every operation associated with those documents. The same test suites used for functional testing can be used for load testing and monitoring, enabling users to verify whether traffic levels, patterns, or combinations cause functionality problems or decreased performance. SOAPtest verifies that clients send appropriate requests to services, and are able to handle responses as expected. In addition to one-click server functional testing, load testing, and client testing, SOAPtest also works as a proxy server, enabling users to view and verify messages between a client and a Web service. By using SOAPtest throughout the software lifecycle, users can prevent errors and improve the quality and reliability of their SOAP services.

SOAPtest 2.1 runs on Windows 2000/XP, Linux and Solaris. For more information, please go to http://www.parasoft.com/soaptest.
